Defensive Handgun Fundamentals

This is Spitfire Firearms Training's second level of class for students who have completed an introductory level class and want to learn the fundamental skills needed to use a handgun defensively. Personal introductions and a review of safety rules and a brief conversation on choosing a handgun for your defensive needs are the only time spent indoors. The remaining time in the day is spent on the range. This is an active course that will keep you on your feet most of the day. We will be covering: Marksmanship fundamentals, working out of the holster safely, multiple shots and follow through, reloading the gun, gun malfunctions, basic positions to shoot from, use of concealment/cover, one had shooting. As stated this is a very active class with a reasonably high round count. Breaks will be taken throughout the day to give students needed times of rest. Safety is our highest priority. Students should bring water, food for lunch as well as snacks to fuel them throughout the day. Clothing appropriate for the day including shirts with a high neckline rain gear if needed, sturdy shoes or boots, a brimmed hat and trousers (pants). Don't forget bug spray and sunscreen.
